Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

NewPath is based in Seattle, WA, and serves communities throughout the US.

Top

What is your main focus of business?

We design, develop and operate fiber-fed networks that improve call coverage and quality for wireless carriers with little visual impact on the surrounding community.

Top

What is the history of your company?

NewPath was started by wireless industry professionals with wireless carrier and OEM backgrounds. Our founders saw a need in the industry for a solution to increasing wireless network coverage in communities with strict zoning regulations.

Top

Who are your customers?

Our customers are wireless carriers and wired and wireless internet service providers who wish to increase cell coverage in an area where zoning for typical cellular communications towers are prohibited.

Top

How do your services and products benefit wireless carriers?

NewPath's micro networks provide for multiple service providers to utilize one system while maintaining independent control over their network configurations. They enable wireless service providers to give customers in hard to zone areas the call coverage and quality they desire without impacting the visual integrity of the community. We also offer service providers the added benefit of having an external company act as an advocate for both the service provider and the surrounding community. This enables the operator to focus on their core business and reduces the internal focus and manpower needed to resolve community and political issues.

What are the benefits for surrounding communities?

Community governments have been considering alternatives to large, obtrusive towers in neighborhoods, historical areas, and other areas where the visual impact of a tower might not be the most desirable option for increasing cellular coverage in the area. We deploy networks that are virtually undetectable to the average citizen, and provide for multiple providers to increase coverage in the area on a single system.

We take pride in our focused, regional approach and are dedicated to bringing the latest technologies to the communities we serve. We apply innovative solutions to solve aesthetics issues in a way that benefits consumers, service providers and surrounding communities

Who are your main competitors?

While the main competitors in the fiber-fed network space include such large companies as Crown Castle and NextG Networks, we are uniquely positioned to offer a different level of service. Competitors are using a strategy that enables them to appeal to a national mass market, while we specialize in individualized solutions that are tailored to the needs of the service provider while maintaining a keen awareness of the sensitivities and needs of the surrounding communities. This is why our strategy takes a more regional approach, and focuses specifically on being a part of the communities in which we do business.

What is your network architecture and how does it work?

Small antennas are mounted on existing utility or light poles in the public right-of-way, stealth electronics with the ability to hide electronics inside light poles, and receive signals from wireless devices such as cell phones, and wireless PDAs. They transport those signals via fiber optic cabling to a hub that switches the signals back to the wireless carrier's network.

What is your value proposition?

Customers that choose to use our distributed antenna networks in hard to zone areas where traditional tower build-out is financially unviable achieve efficiencies that are reflected in time to market, capital expenditures for hardware and in the reduction of facilities and stealth building-related costs and ongoing operating costs. A typical NewPath fiber-fed network may consist of 20 nodes, each with an antenna that connects back to a centralized BTS facility, to provide coverage to a specified neighborhood or community. To duplicate the area of coverage with traditional equipment, a wireless operator would have to deploy approximately 5 towers, with 5 separate base stations, facilities, telephone lines, and power, as well as incur legal and political costs for zoning and associated costs and efforts to meet aesthetic requirements. Our company's model enables operators to cover the same area with a single base station, providing more efficient use of radio resource and reducing associated costs from five to one.

Are you a privately-held company and who are your investors?

We are a privately-owned company that is well capitalized and positioned to lead the growing fiber-fed distributed networks industry. Our primary investor is Sweetwater Capital.

What are your key advantages over the market?

We provide customers and communities with the stability and advantages of adequate capitalization, partnerships with world class hardware manufacturers, and relationships with many of the largest US wireless carriers, while maintaining an entrepreneurial edge when compared to competition. Our company offers flexibility in deployment scenarios, terms, and creativity in implementing solutions that benefit both wireless operators and communities. We also have the agility of a smaller company, providing advantages in time to market and in the ability to be aggressive and take calculated risks.
